My girls love to play dress up, and with that love, comes an overflowing tote of tutus, crowns, and jewelry. I needed to find a cute, but inexpensive way to organize the chaos.
DIY Dress Up Corner
I measured this little corner in my daughter’s room then headed to Home Depot. I picked up a 1x4x8 foot board, clothes pins, and inexpensive wooden knobs. I had the wood cut into three pieces. Two are 3 feet long, and the third is 2 feet long.
After sanding the wood, I painted the edges white and mod-podged scrapbook paper on the front. I hot glued the clothes pins to the two longer boards, and screwed the knobs onto the shorter board.
At this point, I realized that I didn’t buy any mounting brackets for hanging up the boards. So, instead of making an extra trip to the hardware store, I looped a small piece of ribbon and stapled it to the board with a staple gun. I did this on each corner. Add some cute art and an inexpensive mirror from Ross, and you’ve got yourself an adorable dress up corner!
Another inexpensive organization solution is using the spice racks from IKEA to display picture books.
These spice racks are only $3.99 each and can easily be painted any color. You can find them here.
I love how cheery this wall is with all of the book covers on display!
