Breathing new life into an old, and worn out, piece of furniture is very rewarding. I was able to snag this dresser for FREE! Sweet! It was the perfect solution for the toy clutter in our family room.
Transforming an Old Dresser Into Toy Storage
I took out the bottom four drawers, cut some plywood to fit the bottom and back, and painted it a creamy white. The damask pattern on the back is just decorative contact paper.
I love all of the pretty detail on this dresser and wanted to make it pop. I diluted some black paint with water, brushed it on with a small brush, then quickly wiped it off.
The paint stayed behind in all of the little crevices, perfectly highlighting the ornate details.
I found three black bins at Target that fit on the bottom shelf to hide the toys. Using big bins also means easy clean up!
My kids are a joy, but with kids comes toys and messes. Finding a way to keep the chaos organized in a practical and attractive way is my new quest!
How do you make toy storage more pleasing to the eye?
